The term "transpersonal" literally means "beyond the personal." Transpersonal psychology emerged in the late 1960s as a response to the limitations of traditional psychology, which primarily focused on the mind and behaviour. Influenced by figures like Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, and Stanislav Grof, this field explores the full range of human experience, integrating spiritual dimensions with psychological study. It encourages us to look beyond personal identity and connect with a broader sense of being.

 

It is a holistic approach that utilises various techniques to access the subconscious information and wisdom from deeper aspects of our being, offering valuable insights for transformation and healing.

It honours the entire human experience, with any form of expression being key to the therapeutic process.

The approach is based on the belief that healing is always possible and that the psyche inherently seeks balance and well-being.

As a client-centred approach, new meanings, responses, and solutions are drawn from the client, not imposed by the practitioner.

During the session, both counselling and art therapy can be combined, or we can choose to focus on either counselling or art therapy alone. It depends on the situation.

In art therapy, no prior artistic experience is required, as the focus is on the meaning behind the expression, rather than its form.

Furthermore, the practice follows a shamanic model of healing, where we enter altered states of consciousness, working with images, symbols, and stories that arise from both the individual and collective unconscious.

The therapist and client build trust through natural questions and conversation, ensuring that their healing directions align.

In a safe and confidential setting, the therapist explores the client's issues and emotional state through conversation.

 ALTERED STATE

​Under the therapist's guidance, a variety of creative methods are used for induction, allowing the client to naturally enter an altered state of consciousness.

DEEP JOURNEY

In altered states of consciousness, we can find answers to problems or heal wounds and traumas. This is not about forcing anything, but rather, it unfolds naturally through waiting with unconditional acceptance and love, listening, and empathising. Our important role is simply to be fully present.

SOLUTION & BACK HOME

You can reconnect with your ordinary state of consciousness and, through the therapist's questions, explore yourself more deeply. In this process, you may realise more practical solutions or return to a deeper state of consciousness. When you're ready, the journey of the day is safely concluded.

I’ve done some therapy sessions with Jiwoo last year and always felt safe to express and show my feelings. I felt supported.

The sessions were according to my current state and the inner waves I was feeling. Some days we explored figures and painting, and other days I was invited to extend my body and move, giving meaning to those movements, and also diving deep into past memories and present feelings.

It’s a challenge for me to open up, but every time I allowed myself to do so, I had a good and honest session with Jiwoo! Self-awareness and growth is not an easy process, and it takes time. I’m still learning and looking forward to talking to her again, hopefully soon.
